Damaged homes in Kalbarri and other WA towns hit by Cyclone Seroja are now being LOOTED

Parts of Western Australia have a long clean-up ahead after Cyclone Seroja tore through towns in the Mid-West on the weekend.

But now there’s a new problem – a looting crime wave.

On Thursday WA Police Commissioner Chris Dawson revealed how bad the problem has been in the aftermath of the cyclone.

Seventeen people have been arrested for looting and 32 places have been targeted.

It’s happened right across the area, even in Geraldton, which didn’t sustain any damage.

However, the city was without power for three days – which cut out safety systems and plunged the streets into darkness.

CCTV vision obtained by 7NEWS shows an IGA supermarket being raided on Wednesday night.
